Location: Scotts Valley, Carbonera Creek Date: Sunday, July 12 Type: Grant Exchange Rate: $20 GX Rewards for collecting, documenting, and weighing litter

Jeanine Peter participated in BTG × SCGX and lives in Scotts Valley, a city in Northern Santa Cruz County. She is a part of the Scotts Valley Heights neighborhood near Carbonera Creek.
One day she noticed a shopping cart in the creek along with other litter like car tires, rusty metal, and cans that she couldn’t pick up alone. She decided to organize a cleanup in her neighborhood and community to collect it all.
Friend of SCGX, Danielle Ferretti, let Taylor know about Jeanine’s cleanup. SCGX reached out to Jeanine and offered SCGX resources and support for her cleanup.
On Sunday, July 12, 14 volunteers collect litter from Carbonera Creek from 3-5PM. The Scotts Valley Heights Cleanup notable had many large and heavy items compared to the higher amounts of small items in Downtown Santa Cruz.

SCGX support for Scotts Valley Heights Cleanup operated like a grant.
Scotts Valley Heights Cleanup was entirely independent. Jeanine handled the essential aspects of the cleanup:
SCGX issued $300 in GX Rewards and litter documentation materials based on estimated volunteers.
All volunteers were rewarded $20 of GX Rewards for their contribution. Extra GX rewards were given to her neighbor who volunteered to dispose of the litter with their trailer.
